Diary blog: Book launch countdown (16 days)

1

OK yes I missed a day… Well spotted.

Sunday and today have been busy! I have signed off the book cover (and if you’re nice I will let you see that tomorrow). I have been reviewing the final draft. There was a couple more typos found! I hope we have caught them all now, I really do!

Last night when Mary, my editor, sent me the book all nicely laid out like a real book I found myself going through a serious of emotions as I checked the layout etc.

Something along the lines of “OMG this is really happening!”, went through my thoughts. Then a rush of exhilaration, followed by temporary paralysis! I stared at the laptop for about five minutes before my head kicked in and said ok Helen, you know what to do just breath…

So I did.

Then I did some affirmations – I can do this, I can do this…

I then focused on the task in hand, and got to work. When I headed to bed I put myself into a nice relaxed trance but woke early this morning. It fitted in well as I had loads more to do.

Thankfully though I have a few fellow hypnotherapists in my network and had an appointment booked in with one this morning to work on a few fears that have been coming up for me. I know what was needed to be done and although self-hypnosis is effective, a session where the hypnotherapist is totally focused on you can really be useful.

And it was. After a session with Lester Smulksi, from Transformation-Station, with lunch chucked in,  (an added bonus of having great skilled people in your network!)  I came back to the office a lot calmer whilst I finished the edits and forwarded to Mary and then had a short email conversation with Karen, my book mentor.

I am reminded through the process that we can’t do it all ourselves. Mary, from WhiteWater Publishing, has been a massive help to me – incredibly supportive as well as an amazing editor (and english teacher!) as has Karen, from Librotas.

I was explaining to Lester over lunch, at times I catch myself beating myself up that I hadn’t done this before now (it’s been a life long dream). Yet, when I think about everyone who has helped me get here I know I couldn’t have done it without them. I love them all. I think I even told Mary last night (and I wasn’t drunk…)!
