How to run a successful business

To run a successful business, I believe there are a few things we need to remember.

Be yourself

Are you authentic? Does your business operate with the same values as you do? When you talk about your business does it make you proud?

Follow your heart

Are you in business because you are passionate about the products and/ or services that you provide? Do you truly believe they can make a difference to your customer’s lives?

Be flexible

How do you feel when external forces such as suppliers, customers, the economy, or the government and local authorities influence your business to change direction? Do you see the endless opportunities?

Ask for help

Do you openly ask for help? Do you trust your employees & contractors to do the work and know that they are the best people for the job and that their effort is worth every penny. Do you value and care about those who support you?

Trust

Do you trust that it will all work out ok? Do you have faith in what you do and in those around you?

Know your why

Do you know why you are in business and doing what you are doing? Do you know where you are heading and how you plan to get there?

Be unique

Do you stand out from the crowd? Do you have something different to offer?

Know your accounts

Do you know how much profit you have made each month? Do you keep on top of your cashflow forecast? Do you know how much you spend on overheads? Are any your customers late with their payments?
