Is there a lack of trust behind your fear?

trust_1778999I am often reminded of my previous lack of trust that disguised itself as fear. Or is it fear disguised as a lack of trust…

I was once a very fearful person and always on the lookout for security, for a reason I explain in Successful Business Minds, but in addition to this, I had an issue with trusting others – I had been let down in the past so I wasn’t going to let that happen again. Yet it was holding me and my business back.

Over the years, when first meeting my mentors, there was a part of me that could see these people had something valuable to offer me yet I feared them letting me down, and me wasting my money. One of these teachers was my book mentor – Karen Williams

Working with her would involve me spending money which was something I valued as security and was reluctant to gamble it on her.

I wanted to write a book, many books in fact, and I needed help. She resonated with me, but I had doubts and as she lived 450 miles I had no easy way of checking up on her. Thankfully, I noticed a friend of mine was already friends with Karen on social media so I took her for coffee one morning and quizzed her. My doubts were soon put to rest after my friend said some reassuring things, thank goodness, otherwise, I wouldn’t have published 12 Steps to Improve Your Cashflow or Successful Business Minds. I shudder at the thought of that…

As a result of me finally trusting, I made my dreams come true and it was even more amazing than I imagined!

Of course, it took me a long time to trust, and occasionally I still get burnt, but only when I rush into a decision before consulting my 4-minds (this is a familiar concept I explain in detail in Successful Business Minds).

I know to do this when I find myself asking – what if you spend all that money and it is wasted? So I do my research and then some calculations (see How do you calculate if an investment is worthwhile? for some direction) which then helps me put my doubts to rest.

Another person I didn’t allow myself to trust initially was the person who Successful Business Minds is dedicated to – Avril Gill. She deserves a medal for her patience and encouragement. I was not a easy student! Again, I shudder at the thought of not trusting her and not allowing her to help me.

By allowing fear to have the upper hand I would never have considered fulfilling my dreams of writing my first two books nor been able to help so many of my clients.

If you have doubts then I encourage you to listen to your mind, body, heart and soul. Ask them to align – What do all of them want you to do and how can that could be achieved. The free resources that come with Successful Business Minds can really help with this. This was why I created them – I know what it is like to be paralysed through fear of making the wrong decision. Also, see – How to make a quick decision for a quick short guide.

What or who could you trust today that could help you?
