Are you stressed and overwhelmed with an ever growing to-do list?

Most of us have a massive to-do list that grows by the second. We have a partner we want to spend time with, kids to entertain, a house to clean, a garden to keep tidy, errands to run, groceries to buy, people to see, hobbies to enjoy, interests to research, and of course a business to run involving clients to attend to, admin to do, accounts to keep up to date, marketing to send out, training to keep up to date with things and business development to ensure our business does what it should be doing effectively and efficiently.

So how do we do it all? We can’t. At least not all in the same day, but we can do it all in a given 30-90 day period if we make firm choices. Then set those choices as clear intentions, checking in throughout each day to ensure something hasn’t distracted us or that we haven’t absorbed ourselves in someone else’s drama. I check in with my choices and reflect on what’s happening every 2-4hrs. For example, I do this first thing when I wake up over a coffee, then again when I get into the office, again around noon when I go for my daily walk, then lastly just after dinner.

When I don’t do any of this it all gets a bit much for me. When I do this it makes things flow better, I make decisions easier, I say no to things I don’t have time for or don’t really want to do. I say yes to the things I want more of, I say I can help (although maybe but not until a few days/ weeks later). In short, I no longer feel stressed or overwhelmed with it all.

I want you to promise me (and yourself) you will give this a try, that is if you want to feel less stressed. Give space to assess your needs and priorities, then check-in with this several times a day. Be mindful of when it changes or when you want it to change. If you’re not sure how to identify your priorities (because everything seems like a priority!) then look out for next week’s blog where I will share how I assess mine.

Until then, take care and I wish you a super productive week.
