Solve your customers needs by asking why they need it

I believe if we ask our customers WHY they need the things they ask for, as opposed to asking WHAT they want, it allows us to find the REAL solutions for them in a much more innovative way too.

What do you need?

When I asked my clients ‘What do you need?’,  the answer was either more money or someone to do my accounts so I don’t have to.

Why do you want more money?

When I asked ‘Why do you want more money?’  they said it was because they never seem to have enough.

Why don’t you want to do your own accounts?

When I asked ‘Why don’t you want to do your own accounts?’  they said it was because they didn’t like doing their accounts and would much rather prefer to do something else. Some said it was because of time too.
