Do you feel torn when making decisions?

ashamed-wombat_1460347Lately, a few of my clients have acknowledged feelings of indecision, guilt, and shame, and after a lady at the Money Matters Workshop shared her story with me too, I felt it appropriate to be this week’s topic!

Shame or guilt is often a feeling we get when we feel that we ought to have done something else when we listen to what others think we should do or compare ourselves to others who appear to have ‘made it’.

The reason I wrote Successful Business Minds, which is officially now 6 months old (they grow up so quick…), is because when we make a decision that doesn’t have our best interests at heart, and/ or have our head and heart in alignment things will go wrong very quickly.

So many people out there are telling others to follow their heart. I agree whole-heartedly to that, but when it is at the expense of paying your bills or supporting your family, it has to be balanced with your head. Do what you love doing and if that means having a business then go for it, but make sure that you are supported financially. It’s really hard running a business. Anyone (who is being truthful) will tell you that. You have so many tasks to do, most of which are not paid for. For example, you get paid to answer emails when employed, you usually don’t when self-employed (which is why calculating your price is important), and there are so many decisions to make that we can feel overwhelmed with them all.

For some people, their partners are unable to support them financially, or they live alone and that means that they may have to work part-time for several years before they get enough customers & savings behind them to launch a business full time (I ran my business part time for 6 years before going full-time and it was still challenging). Or maybe they were never meant to run a business! Following your heart doesn’t always mean chucking in your full-time job and doing something else. It simply means, bringing more happiness into your life.

Alternatively, indecision is experienced when someone is fearful of what others think and is lacking confidence and courage to be themselves and live their life they way they want to. One of my dreams was to be an author and publish books, yet I almost didn’t publish Successful Business Minds because I was ashamed of sharing my story. I was also scared to tell others that I had a drive for money just like those people they hate… Yet, it was the very thing that my clients love about me. I respect money. I know what it can do for you, your family, your business and your customers. I also know it doesn’t buy everything we desire. It doesn’t give us back our younger years. It doesn’t wipe out mistakes. And it doesn’t bring back those who have died. Which is why time is precious too and why we need to remember money is not the only factor when making a decision.

You need to consider your feelings when making a decision. Listen to what the money mind is asking for, consider if the body is capable and meditate. Feel that connection to your soul. Don’t listen to what others have to say. Trust yourself.

I wrote Successful Business Minds to encourage you to stop listening to what other people say you should do, feel or think and have the courage to listen to your 4 minds instead. Please read it if you need help to do just that.
